It’s so nice to meet you!

Caucasian female mental health therapist with short hair, a black shirt, and lived experience with ADHD.

I’m Erin Morgan, owner of New Summit Counseling, LLC, and, hopefully, your new therapist!

I was born and raised in Colorado, and grew up taking horseback riding lessons in the beautiful Coal Creek Canyon. Colorado has always been good to me, and I will always call it home.

I attended the University of Northern Colorado as an undergraduate student, and received my Bachelor of Art in Psychology in 2013. I then attended the University of Wyoming, and in 2017 received my Masters of Science in Counseling with a focus on community mental health.

My first job after receiving my masters degree was in a small, rural town in Northwestern Wyoming. It was at a community agency that served people with a variety of support needs. While I enjoyed the clients I worked with, I quickly started struggling with the administrative demands of the job. There were high productivity expectations, which required significant skill for time management, task prioritization, task initiation, and organization. Despite my best efforts, the challenges I had with paperwork and administrative demands became too much to manage and I left the job after 2.5 years.

What I didn’t know at the time was that I had undiagnosed ADHD. I didn’t receive an official ADHD diagnosis until 2021 and it helped clarify so many confusing parts of my life. I was told by teachers in K-12th grade that I was “gifted”, and excelled in English and biology, but struggled significantly with math as well as socially connecting with my peers. It was an overwhelming process to get diagnosed later in my life, full of gratitude for now having the knowledge to understand myself better, but it also came with grief, anger, and sadness for my younger self.

This is where my true passion for help other burned out, overwhelmed, formerly gifted kids developed.

I am licensed in Colorado (LPC.0017070), Georgia (LPC015162), and Wyoming (LPC-1810), and have been in practice 7 years. I have a rescue dog, Pepper, who keeps me pretty busy with her shenanigans. I still love horseback riding, indulge in many different video games, and spend time with my family and friends whenever I can.
